BCLI Consultation Paper on the Builders Lien Act

The British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI) has issued a Consultation Paper on the Builders Lien Act and is seeking responses from all sectors of the BC construction industry and other stakeholders concerning reform of the Act.

You can read more about the Builders Lien Act review here.

This is not normally something that COCA would comment on as it is outside of our safety mandate, but we want our members to be aware of the ability to comment.

BCLI is requesting that responses to the consultation paper be sent to them by January 15, 2020.  Following that date, they will begin the process of finalizing our recommendations and preparing their report with the benefit of the responses received.

BCLI is an independent, not-for-profit society dedicated to the improvement of the law.  Their recommendations have no official status and are not binding on government or the legislatures, but are contributions to public debate on matters of law reform and may influence future legislation.  BCLI originally initiated its Builders Lien Act Reform Project with the encouragement of the Ministry of Attorney General.
