OTTAWA – The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) has decided to cancel its 2020 conference scheduled for San Diego, Calif. March 15 to 18.

The decision was made by the association’s board of directors following a number of emergency meetings held the weekend of March 7.

“The vote was overwhelmingly in favour of cancelling the events, with the overriding objective to protect you – our delegates, staff and the association – from risks associated with the coronavirus,” states a release issued by the CCA March 9. “This was not an easy decision and we are all disappointed that we will not be able to get together and celebrate the industry as usual this year.”
CCA is currently working through the communications and logistics of the decision, including the cancellation of conference-related zoo tour and golf tournament. Registrations will be cancelled and reimbursed.

The association is advising delegates to cancel any hotel reservations, activities or airfare outside of those booked by CCA, directly with the hotel, AZA tour company and airline to minimize any penalties. Those still choosing to travel to San Diego should contact the hotel to confirm reservations.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience, disappointment and issues with your travel plans that this has caused,” concludes the release.
