Consequential policy amendments to implement the Workers Compensation Amendment Act, 2020 (Bill 23)

The Workers Compensation Amendment Act, 2020 (Bill 23) received Royal Assent on August 14, 2020, immediately bringing into effect 32 legislative changes to the Workers Compensation Act (Act). To implement these changes, WorkSafeBC must amend our policies to reflect the legislation.

Two changes to the Act with respect to benefits will come into effect on January 1, 2021. Consultation on policy changes related to these amendments will take place in the fourth quarter of 2020.

This current consultation is on proposed changes to policy in the Prevention ManualRehabilitation Services & Claims Manual, Volume II, and Assessment Manual, to ensure our policies are consistent with the amendments to the Act now in effect.

Our Policy, Regulation and Research Division has prepared a discussion paper explaining the proposed consequential policy amendments. You are invited to review the paper and draft policies, and to provide comments. All feedback will also be provided to WorkSafeBC’s governing body, the Board of Directors.
