We remember the 144 workers in B.C. who lost their lives in 2016.
It only takes one moment for a life to change. On May 13, 2008, Dirk, a power line technician, left for work but never made it home due to a tragic helicopter crash.
For his wife, Lynne, and their children, the Day of Mourning is a chance to honour his memory and to remember other workers who have lost their lives to workplace injury or disease.
On April 28, workers, families, and employers will gather at commemorative ceremonies across the province to honour the 144 workers in British Columbia who lost their lives last year due to workplace injury and disease. Join us as we renew our commitment to creating healthy and safe workplaces for everyone.
The Day of Mourning ceremony in Vancouver will take place this year at the Hastings Park Centre Grounds (near the PNE Forum). For a list of province-wide ceremonies and speakers, to find more information and resources, or to order complimentary decals and posters, please visit dayofmourning.bc.ca.
