COCA has long supported the development of a competency certification program for concrete pump operators. We have taken the position with WorkSafeBC that the status quo is not an option. Currently anyone with a Class 3 Driver’s licence can lease any kind of concrete pump, drive it off the lot and start pumping!
The voluntary certification program, developed by the construction industry through the BC Construction Safety Alliance, is a major step forward to making construction sites safer. With this program in place it will now be up to the construction industry to begin to insist on hiring certified concrete pump operators.
Please join us!
Concrete Pump Operators in BC can now have their skills and abilities recognized with a professional accreditation delivered by the BC Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA). Pump operators who hold this Certification are known as Certified Concrete Pump Operators (CCPOs).
This Certificate was built by industry and safety professionals to ensure holders of the Certificate are operating to a standard of high competence – one of safety, environmental consideration and value. Those who hold this Certificate have demonstrated theoretical knowledge of concrete pump operations and they have shown they can apply this knowledge by working competently in the field.
Please join us as we launch this exciting new program and celebrate the years of work that have gone into making this program a reality.
