In the last 15 years, WorkSafeBC has made tremendous strides toward our vision of a province free from workplace injury, disease and death. The provincial injury rate is at an all-time low, return-to-work outcomes have improved, and the worker’s compensation system is financially sound. WorkSafeBC is recognized nationally and internationally as a leader in worker’s compensation and occupational health and safety.
Diana Miles, as President and CEO for the past 4 years – and Senior Vice President, WES for 11 years before that – has played an instrumental role in these successes. And I know that Diana is always the first to say there is room for improvement.
Diana has been a strong and respected leader and has effectively led the organization through some challenging periods and transitions; all the while ensuring the organization remained focused on its critically important health and safety mandates.
These accomplishments are worth reflecting on as I write to inform you that Diana will be leaving her role as President and CEO at the end of January 2019.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank Diana for her exceptional leadership, commitment and accomplishments. Diana leaves the organization well-positioned for the future. Please join me in thanking Diana for all she has done for the organization. I am sure you will find opportunities over the coming months to thank Diana personally.
The Board is commencing a search for the next President and CEO of WorkSafeBC and will be working with an executive search firm to assist us in this process. Our priority is to ensure that over the coming months there is a smooth leadership transition.
Chair, Board of Directors
