WorkSafeBC Chair announces appointment of President and Chief Executive Officer

Richmond, B.C., December 9, 2014 — On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce that Diana Miles has been appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of WorkSafeBC.

Ms. Miles joined WorkSafeBC in 2004 as Senior Vice-President of the Worker and Employer Services Division, with the mandate of integrating and leading the organization’s prevention, claims, and assessment operations. She has led WorkSafeBC’s operating division for a decade, and under her leadership the organization has made significant progress in injury reduction and service improvements. Over the past months, she has provided stable and effective executive leadership to the organization as interim President and CEO.

Diana’s commitment to building strong teams, to ensuring that relationships are managed respectfully, and to achieving the organization’s goals and objectives have earned her the respect of staff and stakeholders alike.

Prior to joining WorkSafeBC, Diana had extensive experience in senior management roles in the private sector. Throughout her career she has always made time to support the community by serving as a member of public policy, service, charitable, and educational organizations — for example, as Chair of the Board of Douglas College and as a Board member of SHARE Family and Community Services. Currently, she serves as a Governor of the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.

The Board of Directors has valued Diana’s leadership and significant contributions to the organization over the past ten years and looks forward to working with her in her new role. Her appointment is effective immediately.
