On behalf of WorkSafeBC’s executive leadership team, I’m pleased to inform you that Jeff Parr is the new chair of our Board of Directors.
Today, Minister of Labour Harry Bains announced Jeff’s appointment to the role for a two-year term, beginning immediately and running until December 1, 2022.
Jeff is a former deputy minister in multiple provincial governments, most notably as Alberta’s Deputy Minister of Labour from 2016–19. His accomplishments in that role include leading a reform of Alberta’s labour legislation that encompassed essential services, labour relations, employment standards, occupational health and safety, and workers’ compensation legislation.
I am confident this appointment marks an important step toward our vision of a province free from workplace injury or illness, and will enable our board to continue to deliver on the high standard of stewardship set by Ralph McGinn and interim chair Lee Loftus.
I would like to thank our board for their leadership during what has been a time of great change for B.C.’s employers and workers. I’d like to acknowledge Lee in particular for stepping in as interim chair and helping us to continue to deliver essential services to our stakeholders. We look forward to continuing to work with him in his role as public-interest representative on the board.
The B.C. government’s news release provides further details regarding the appointment.
Anne Naser
President and CEO,
