Supporting injured workers in their return to work is good for them and good for business. Starting in 2024, it will also be a legal requirement for employers to co-operate with injured workers and with WorkSafeBC to ensure the worker’s safe and timely return to work.

The provincial government has made amendments to the Workers Compensation Act that affect return to work. Starting January 1, 2024, employers and workers will be required to co-operate with each other and with WorkSafeBC to ensure the worker can return to their pre-injury job, a comparable job, or other suitable work.
