Richmond, B.C., February 25, 2015 — WorkSafeBC has fully implemented 23 recommendations of the WorkSafeBC Review and Action Plan, which was prepared by WorkSafeBC special adviser Gordon Macatee in July 2014. In addition, eight more recommendations are in progress and are on track to be completed as scheduled.
In his report, Mr. Macatee provided 43 recommendations, which were fully accepted by WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors and Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour. The introduction of Bill 9 (Workers Compensation Act, 2015) in the B.C. Legislature on February 11, 2015, paves the way for completion of the remaining 12 recommendations.

Mr. Macatee will continue to oversee the implementation of his recommendations until they are fully completed. His next progress report will be issued in April 2015.
