BCCWITT Launches WITT Wednesdays with SHARP Partnership

On behalf of BCCWITT | January 2026

Our BCCWITT team is excited to announce the kickoff of WITT Wednesdays – a new initiative designed to help connect and build up our community by offering both a range of learning and training options, and a (soon-to-come) return to virtual meetups. Plus, you can expect to see us using this as an opportunity to celebrate the hard work that people in our community are doing!

SHARP Workplaces training

We are proud that today we get to share news about a new partnership with the Community Legal Assistance Society (CLAS), as we step in to help support the vital education and advocacy goals of their Sexual Harassment Advice, Response, and Prevention for Workplaces (SHARP Workplaces) program. The SHARP Workplaces Legal Clinic provides up to five hours of free confidential legal advice to help any worker who has experienced sexual harassment at work, in addition to offering navigation support to other services or assistance that victims of these incidents may need.

In collaboration with the team at SHARP Workplaces, we will be delivering free virtual and in-person training to provide the information, resources, and guidance needed to address sexual harassment in BC’s trades industry.

This two-part training will help people:

  • understand their rights and responsibilities,
  • navigate legal processes,
  • develop skills to communicate and address sexual harassment, and
  • help people take steps to advocate for themselves and others in creating safer workplaces for everyone.

Our first virtual session takes place on Wednesday, January 28th, with additional online and in-person options to follow. Learn more about the training opportunities, and apply here: https://bccwitt.ca/sharp/

We want to also acknowledge that we know how important the SHARP Workplaces program has been to members of our BCCWITT community in the past. We are thankful for the hard work CLAS did to get the funding reinstated, and for the opportunity to partner in this next step of the vital work they are doing.

CRA Benefits and Credits for Tradespeople

Back for its second year (and now available to more people in our community), we have partnered with the Canada Revenue Agency to offer a free virtual Intro to Taxes and Credits for Tradespeople webinar on Wednesday, March 4th, from 2:30 to 4pm.

Join us to learn more about what benefits and credits you are entitled to, how to file your taxes, and how to avoid scams. This webinar will also feature a 30-minute Q&A session, to make sure you can get the most out of your return! Monthly meetups

Monthly meetups are coming back for women and gender-diverse workers in the trades! Get ready to join your fellow tradies for a social, virtual meetup series to talk about work, address timely issues, share resources, build mentorship opportunities, and more!

We’ll be adding more information about all of this to the WITT Wednesdays page on our website soon!
